Membership
We hope anyone spending time at Othona – at either Othona centre – will develop, to some degree, a sense of belonging. You are a member of the community at that time in that place. Some people choose to make that into a more formal membership of the Othona Community as a network of people spreading across the UK and beyond.
To become a member you subscribe a certain amount of money (see below). In return, you receive the printed newsletter "Full Circle" (now three times a year), mailings from time to time with programme details from both Othona centres, and voting rights for the committees which help run those centres. There's an Annual General Meeting in London which members are encouraged to attend and vote at.
So what is membership? It doesn't commit you to particular actions, nor to any shared statement of beliefs. Perhaps it is most important as a way of signifying your support for Othona. For some people their membership becomes a key factor in their life and they pour time and energy, resources and prayer into Othona. Some find Othona friends - away from either centre – become a significant part of their social network.
For others, their subscribing membership may be no more than a wish to support and keep hearing news from an organisation in which they can no longer actively participate. What it means for you would be up to you – entirely. It's a kind of sliding scale of involvement.
We always welcome new members. You can join in person when visiting Othona. Or you can contact Christine Cox, the Membership Secretary: Othona Membership Secretary 269 Ladyshot Harlow Essex CM20 3EY
